You know what sucks? When you write a whole post, complete with tags, links and pics and then hit publish and through some f&$kup it DISAPPEARS.
Yeah, that sucks.
So, where am I? I don’t know. I only know I am not there yet. I am watching hundreds of people form all over the world dashing past me on their feet, on bikes, in kayaks, on horses, on vaulting poles. Good Lord! I am tired from all this activity.
But let’s get to what you really wanna know. Have I won a medal yet? Nope. I am so knitted out I stopped counting, but I think we’re at about project 10 or 11 and that we will make it to the Bronze level by Sunday’s Closing Ceremony (is there anyone out there who seriously thought I would deny myself a pair of metallic sandals of any damn color I want after all this work? Ahem.).
So here is what I’ve been up to:
This was already done, just needed seaming, buttoning and a row of crochet around the neck. BADDA BING!
Finished this too – Ann Norling’s Stitch Sampler Scarf. It was half done before I picked it up – after maybe a year and a half!
Then I frogged a couple of things (remember, three frogs equals one finished project, so I have to frog one more thing before I can count this). This was a cute little top from last summer’s Verena magazine – but I think not a good combo of yarn and project:
And this was a henley, I believe from an old Interweave Knits. I was never gonna finish it – too boring – and I can find a better use for this yarn:
This is what it looks like now – and I have about 1000 more yards. I swear.
I’ve also been working on my Aeolian Shawl, which I will finish if I don’t poke my eyes out from frustration over beads and nupps and 800-something sts per row. I have 3.5 rows left. So it will get done. I may count it as two – TRY AND STOP ME. And I am working on the second of a Cookie A sock pattern. No pics of these yet, but look for them soon. SOOOOOOON.
Look what my hubby made me this weekend to cheer me on:
That’s it. In the first draft of this post – the one that disappeared – I had written the best essay I’ve ever written about wanting to be a better citizen of my body and about good sportsmanship. So that’s what you missed. I’ll write much inferior versions of those here soon. But right now I have to get back to knitting if I hope to finish.
Here it is, your gratuitous pug photo:

No offense Kimberly, but I can see why those projects we’re languishing. Thank you for liberating those of us with projects in baskets everywhere that simply need to be frogged out of existence.
They will all have a second chance which is solace enough.
No offense taken. Sometimes startitis gets the best of us!
I think the pale, subdued Baby Surprise is very sweet. What yarn did you use — or is in on your Ravelry site? (Would look great with metallic sandals…. oh no, no, wrong image!)
HYSTERICAL!!! Just the sandals and nothing else!!! I think the yarn is Rowan All Seasons Cotton. It was whatever was in my stash more than a year ago when I started it.
