So, I WAS gonna write this nice, sweet little post about the joy of knitting plain old basic socks – cast on 64 sts and work in k2, p2 rib till the heel, etc. Then I checked my email this morning and there was a message from Knitty.com showing some new patterns for First Fall and among them was this hot lace shawl called “Bauble” . . .
Pretty swell, pretty swank, huh? So I go and look at the designer’s blog and I read her bio. Her name is Kathyrn McNaughton AND SHE’S STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL. SHE’S IN HIGH SCHOOL AND SHE DESIGNED THIS GORGEOUS SHAWL AND A BUNCHA OTHER BEAUTIFUL, GREAT-FITTING GARMENTS AND SHE’S THIN AND CUTE AND YOUNG AND . . . AND . . . AND I THOUGHT hey, ya know what? My plain old socks ain’t nuthin’ to strut about.
Sheesh. So thanks, kid, I’ll be knittin’ your fab shawl and dripping green with envy every stitch of the way.
Can’t wait to see what you do when you grow up! Congratulations on your Knitty pattern, girlfriend.

Aww thank you so much! And I love K2, P2 rib socks as much as the next knitter
HA! I’m still green. You rock.
